	OPEN-END FUNDS (Mutual Funds) sell shares of their fund directly to investors and stand by ready to buy back those shares at the customer's request. Those shares are not listed on an exchange.
	CLOSED-END FUNDS are shares in investment companies, some of which are listed on the New York Stock Exchange, which are easily transferable in the open market and are bought and sold like other listed shares.
